The journey of George VanDercook and Rudy Babikian, founders/Co-owners of Los Locos Mag Bay, is nothing short of inspiring. Transitioning from avid adventurers to entrepreneurs, their story is rooted in resolve and community, beautifully embodying the vibrancy that fuels this industry.
Their saga commenced in 2016 with a surf/fishing expedition to Baja, led by a group of close-knit friends from Wyoming. The allure of the unknown beckoned as they trailered their 19-foot Boston Whaler, “The Black Pearl,” across the border into a realm of endless possibilities. As November’s days unfurled, the group embraced the spontaneity of their situation, meandering along the Baja coastline with no compass of certainty. Each dawn heralded a day of fishing, surfing, and the zest of discovery. Yet, despite the camaraderie and the allure of the ocean, an undercurrent of curiosity and a deeper connection to the locale lingered.
